Invisalign – Clear Braces

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign offered by Mint Dental of Emerson, NJ

Invisalign system is used to straighten teeth without metal or wires. It uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth.

How does Invisalign / Invisalign Teen Work?

After detailed impressions are taken of your teeth, Align utilizes proprietary 3D computer imaging technology to map the complete treatment from start to finish.

The 3D animation video shows the gradual movement of your teeth from start to finish, so you’ll be able to see the final position of your teeth BEFORE you even start treatment.

The aligners are worn for about two weeks. During this time, the aligners gradually move your teeth until they achieve the prescribed final position.

Why is Invisalign better than regular braces?

Benefits
It's RemovableSince Aligners can be taken out to brush and floss, patients can maintain normal, healthy hygiene during treatment.
Invisalign can be removed for eating. Anytime is good time to eat, and there are no forbidden foods.
It's ComfortableInvisalign Aligners are made of lightweight plastic that is custom-fitted to each patient's teeth.
There are no wires or uncomfortable metal brackets poking or tearing into the mouths or gums of patients.
It fits your busy lifestyleSince Invisalign Aligners are comfortable and durable, it is easy for patients undergoing treatment to continue their favorite activities such as participating in sports and playing musical instruments - activities that can be challenging or uncomfortable with traditional metal braces.
It looks great.
Invisalign's near-invisibility is still one of the most popular features for teens and adults alike; treatment is very inconspicuous, making it easier to "fit in" rather than call attention to treatment.

What is the difference between Invisalign and Invisalign Teen?

The underlying concept and technology are the same. Although the treatment benefits are the same, Invisalign Teen was designed with leading orthodontists to meet the unique clinical and social needs of teenagers.

For example, The Invisalign Teen product contains blue Compliance Indicators that are designed to gradually fade as the patient wears the aligner.

Another feature that is only contained in the Invisalign Teen system is the Eruption Tabs that accommodate the growth of the secondary molars in young adults.

Teens tend to be forgetful, what happens if they lose Aligners?

For teen patients, Invisalign provides up to six individual replacement aligners. If an aligner is lost or broken, the doctors at Mint Dental will probably tell them to start wearing their last set or next set of aligners right away. Replacement aligners usually arrive within a week.

Is Invisalign / Invisalign Teen as effective as traditional metal braces?

Yes. Like braces, Invisalign effectively straightens teeth. Invisalign has been the orthodontic treatment of choice for nearly two million patients.

Once the treatment is complete, are the results of Invisalign permanent?

Just as with traditional wire and bracket braces, the doctors at Mint Dental of Emerson, NJ recommend that patients use retainers after completing treatment to fight relapse.

Align’s Vivera retainers, similar in look and feel to aligners, are designed to help maintain a beatiful smile.

When is a teen eligible for Invisalign Teen? Is there a minimal age (12 & Up – Once all Adult teeth are in)?

Invisalign Teen is designed for patients who have lost all their baby teeth and have second molars at least partially erupted (growing in). This includes most teens.

We recommend you contact us to speak to our doctors to see if your teen is a candidate.

How long does treatment using Invisalign take?

The length of treatment depends on the severity of each case and can only be determined by our doctors; however, most Invisalign cases are completed within about 13-18 months.

What material are the Aligners made of? Are they comfortable?

Invisalign aligners are made from a lightweight, BPA-free plastic material that is designed to fit precisely in the patient’s mouth. Although there may be occasional discomfort due to the snug fit of staring with a new set of aligners, patients don’t have to worry about the constant irritation and inconvenience of metal and brackets.

Are there any hygiene benefits with Invisalign? For example, is it easier to floss properly?

YES! Unlike traditional braces, patients can remove aligners for brushing and flossing. This enables teens to maintain normal, healthy oral hygiene during treatment.
